Let the Dark Knight rise.
Airing on Fox each Thursday at 8 p.m., the final season of Gotham has been set to shock and exhilarate fans.
Four episodes into the fifth and final season, Gotham Legend of the Dark Knight has begun to increase what fans have been waiting for: an introduction to Batman.
“It’s a good show,” junior Anthony Bernardo commented.
After the shocking finale of season four, the island of Gotham has been cut off from the rest of the country. Season five opens with the Gotham City police as well as Penguin (Robin Taylor), Riddler (Cory Michael Smith), and others perched on a wall to defend the city from an intruding government.
This season premiere was an explosion to the new season by adding turf wars to the plot.
The season premiere also brought back some of the classic Batman villains who haven’t gotten much light in the past seasons such as Scarecrow (David W. Thompson), who made a brief appearance as Johnathan Crane earlier in season four.
The second episode to this final season puts the Gotham City Police Department on a rescue mission in a part of Gotham with no power and run by less fortunate gangs. This episode accurately named “Trespassers” gave a sense of suspense to the fans.
“Trespassers” also gave the fans a look at two newer Gotham villains: Orphan/Mother, and Bane. It also gave fans the first look at Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) officially taking on the role of Catwoman.
Episode three added to the explosive events of the season. After commissioner Gordon offered a haven to refugees, most of Penguin’s staff abandoned him to live in the haven which caused more tensions to rise.
Selina and Bruce (David Mazouz) had joined in on the progress of the season by going to the ‘black zone’ of the island in search for Jeremiah (Cameron Monaghan), the Joker-like character of the season. Upon entering the black zone, fans are introduced to one of the Joker’s well known associates in the comics: Harley Quinn (Francesca Root-Dodson).
The fourth episode of the season found Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Penguin teaming up to find who had attacked the haven established to shelter civilians trapped in Gotham. The episode also put Bruce and Alfred (Sean Pertwee) teaming up to find Selina after she followed Jeremiah’s followers.
Overall, this season is off to a good start with twists in each episode that will keep the fans hooked. Hopefully everything will be tied up nicely by the end of the season.
