The leaves change, the temperature drops, and the warm autumn days turn cold and damp too early. Sadly, the same might be said about this year’s Beaver Area High School girls tennis team post season: it ended too early.
October 12 the girls faced McGuffey High School in a home match in the first round of the playoffs. As these Bobcats often do, all the singles and doubles teams won their matches moving them on to the next round.
The ladies then had another home match October 14 against Burrell High School—and again all singles and doubles teams emerged victorious. So far, so good.
Hoping to keep the winning alive, October 21 the girls tennis team took the courts against a perennial tennis power: Sewickley Academy High School. Unfortunately, the Bobcats fell short of advancing to the next round meaning it was time to put away their racquets for the season.
“The season always goes by really fast; I just wish we would’ve gotten a chance to play for third place in the WPIAL and then would have gone to states,” shared junior Fiona Rubino.
As another girls tennis season comes to an end, the girls say farewell to two incredible seniors.
