Before the Bobcats got word that they would be heading to the playoffs, the team knew they still had work to be done.
February 10 the Bobcats had a huge section game against the Central Valley Warriors. The girls would be tipping off against each other for the second time in a week, due to a COVID reschedule, but the Bobcats came prepared again.
First the JV squads took the court. Last week, the JV Bobcats suffered a loss to the Warriors, but not this time. The Bobcats dominated on the court to win 32-6 over the Warriors.
After JV’s dominating win, the varsity girls tipped off. Both teams came prepared for this game and were willing to work hard to secure a win—although the Bobcats wanted the win more and defeated the Warriors 42-28.
Two days later, the Bobcats tipped off against Blackhawk High School February 12. The Cougars are one of Bobcats’ toughest competitors and this game proved it.
Before the varsity game, the JV teams tipped off. Unfortunately, the Cougars took control of the game early on and defeated the Bobcats in a heartbreaking 51-19 win.
The varsity Bobcats had other plans to attempt to beat the Cougars. After tipping off, the Bobcats trailed the Cougars the entire game. However, the girls could not find the momentum to pull ahead which resulted in a tough 62-48 loss again the Cougars.
Valentine’s Day, the Bobcats put aside their special dinner plans to travel to Mohawk High School for their last regular season game.
At this point, the Bobcats knew they had secured a spot in the playoffs, but weren’t going to let that determine the way they played. The varsity Bobcats tipped off against Mohawk’s varsity squad and dominated all game. When the final buzzer rang, the Bobcats came out on top ending the regular season with a 60-36 win.
“We were all very excited to be moving on to the playoffs. We are ready to get back to practice and get ready for the next step,” shared sophomore Delaney Thomas.

After ending the regular season 12-4, the Bobcats advanced to the playoffs. In the first round, the girls tipped off against Freeport Area High School February 22. The Bobcats had home court advantage for the game.
The Bobcats took the court and had the game-winning momentum from tip-off. The team took advantage of playing on their home court and dominated the entire game making the first round of playoffs an easy 46-28 win over Freeport to advance the Bobcats to the next round.
“Our team is definitely united and played one of our best games of the season [against Freeport]. We are at a point now where it feels like everything is falling into place. All we can do is keep pushing,” shared junior Chloe List.
The girls advanced to the next round of playoffs against Elizabeth Forward High School February 25. The girls will have home court advantage again. Check back next issue for the results of the game.
