The queens of diamonds are not stopping no matter who is in their way currently reigning over an undefeated softball season.
April 9 the Bobcats faced the Central Valley Warriors where they blanked the Warriors 8-0 in a full seven innings.
Along with 15 strikeouts, junior Payton List, blasted two home runs, a solo and a two-run homerun. Junior Hanna Crowe also went hard to help the Bobcats with their defeat.
The Bobcats came out victorious in their next section matchup against the Hopewell Vikings April 14.
Senior Emilee Hohenshel started on the mound for the Bobcats and recorded eight strikeouts. Hohenshel also had an exceptional day at the plate with a homerun, a triple, and four RBI’s.
Senior Mackenzie Boyd also had four RBI’s and was three for five on the day. Senior Anna Blum also had an inside-the-park homerun.
The next day, the Bobcats faced the toughest game of the section when they traveled to the home of the Montour Spartans.
A long and hard fought game ended up with the Bobcats on top as they beat the Spartans 8-4 in a full seven innings—a little too close for comfort for a Bobcat team used to big, comfortable wins.
However, this win included some good news as Blum hit a home run as did sophomore Kayla Cornell.
Just 24 short hours later, the Bobcats hosted the Ambridge Bridgers in a section match.
The Bobcats defeated the Bridgers 10-0 in a five inning game easing any anxiety induced by Montour’s four runs the previous day.
Cornell hit another home run for her second on the year, and senior Bailey Nicol had the walk off hit that put the mercy rule into play.
A long four days later the Bobcats played school rivals, the Blackhawk Cougars, where they easily trounced them 13-0.
It was a slow start but the Bobcats were able to pull out the win and put up a ton of runs late in the game to put them far, far ahead.
Three days later, the Bobcats faced The Our Lady of Sacred Heart (OLSH) Tigers.
The Bobcats were up 2-0 for most of the game where a late game hit by freshman Chloe List started a rally for the Bobcats.
Halfway through the season the Bobcats remain undefeated. They have only given up four total runs this first half of the season, all to the Montour Spartans. They lead their points for over points against 81-4.
“Our hard work in practice had really played off and we’ve been really successful so far this year. It’s been so fun because different people have had good games at different times, so it takes a team to win games,” explained Blum.
The Bobcats started off the second half of the season on the right note when they blanked the Central Valley Warriors 5-0 April 28.
Boyd went two for four with three RBI’s while three other Bobcats had two hits apiece to back up Payton List in the circle who tallied nine strikeouts.
