The holiday break brings holiday basketball tournaments.
Before the holiday tournaments began, the Bobcats travelled to New Castle High School for an away game December 20. The Bobcats controlled possession the whole game and were able to bring home a 48-24 Bobcat win against the Hurricanes.
While many people choose to relax over the break, the opposite can be said for the Beaver Area girls basketball team. They continued to practice and improve their gameplay while also competing in the CJ Better’s/RBA Classic Tournament at CCBC.
December 28 was the first day of the tournament where the girls competed against Rochester High School. Although the Rams are always a tough game for the Bobcats, the girls emerged victorious in the CCBC Golden Dome and defeated the Rams 43-39.
The next day, the girls returned to the dome to face off against Central Valley. The JV girls played first and secured the win which helped the varsity also secure the win 56-26 over the Warriors.
“[The tournament] was a really fun experience and we won all of our games! I’m so glad I was able to play in this tournament,” said freshman Emerson Connelly.
To start the new year, the Bobcats were supposed to tip off against Blackhawk High School, but unfortunately the game had to be postponed due to Covid reasons. The rescheduled game date has not been determined yet.
This week, the Bobcats play away tonight at Montour High School and at home January 13 against Quaker Valley High School. Both games start at 7:30 p.m. Come out and support the Bobcats!
