The Beaver Area Marching Band’s 2025 season halftime show will take you to outer space.
The theme of the Beaver Area Marching Band’s new season is “To Mars and Back.”
The show features four songs: “24K Magic” by Bruno Mars, “Applause” by Lady Gaga, “Starships” by Nicki Minaj, and “Runaway Baby” also by Bruno Mars.
Starting the week of July 28 and continuing through the week of August 4, the marching band worked very hard on perfecting memorization and drill for their new show.
But after all the hard work preparing the show, August 11 the marching band spent the day at Kennywood Park and later performed in the annual Fall Fantasy Parade, performing dances to drum cadences as well as playing the tune “24K Magic” by Bruno Mars.
Schools that Beaver Area performed with were Beaver Local, Corry, Harrison Central, Lakeview, New Brighton, Philipsburg-Osceola, Plum, Upper St. Clair, and West Allegheny.
Adding that both Beaver Area and West Allegheny have the same tune arrangement for “24K Magic,” they played together during the rehearsal before the parade.
Band director Mr. J.P Scanga stated, "The marching band is off to a great start this season! We had a very productive band camp and summer practice schedule. This year's student leaders are positive and motivating, and our new band members are working hard every week. Our staff is proud of everyone!"
August 18 was Meet the Teams Night, for which the marching band started out with playing the first two tunes of their halftime show, and later playing the Fight Song with the cheerleaders dancing along.
To kick off the academic year, August 19 the marching band performed their halftime show tunes and the Fight Song for the Beaver Area School District faculty.
August 22 was the marching band’s first football game performance for the season.
The Beaver Area Marching Band received many compliments from both the home and away fans.
Drumline director Mr. Louis Didio shared, "The Beaver Marching Band is off to a great start this year building on the awesome traditions established by last year's leadership group. The future is very bright for this program. The best part of the season has been the awesome collaboration between the cheer and football squads with the band [which] really shows how great of a community Beaver is. Everyone should come out to support the groups on Friday nights."
August 29 was the marching band’s second football game and first away game performance.
During this game, the Beaver Area Marching Band debuted their new halftime dance routine during the drum break of the final tune.
The band kept the energy high and celebrated the Beaver Bobcats win that night.
September 5 was the marching band’s third game performance.
The band kept halftime entertaining and enjoyable for the crowd, performing their new dance on the home field for the first time.
This year’s drum major Abby Solinger said: “The band is doing such an incredible job! They’ve shown so much incredible work ethic and they’ve grown so much as musicians and people this year. I am so proud of everyone and absolutely overjoyed to be a part of the group in such a big way!”
