Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School has stunned audiences again with their annual rendition of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. The ballet featured LPPACS junior Ciara Mikula as Clara, the leading character in the show, alongside freshman Charlie Burcham as Drosselmeyer’s nephew and the Nutcracker Prince.
With showstopping renditions of Tchaikovsky’s memorable pieces, such as “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy,” the ballet was as always, a smashing hit for guests of all ages.
While no words are spoken in the ballet, the magical holiday performance perfectly conveys the whimsical nature of the season. Guests enjoyed the many gorgeous costumes and set pieces, which added an immersive layer to the experience.
High school students weren’t the only ones that took to the stage in the ballet. Many younger students participated as toy soldiers or guests at the party in the show’s opening scene.
Beaver Area High School senior Ava Coups stated, “I like how Lincoln Park included little kids in the show. It’s not only adorable, but also introduces children to the theater.”
The performing arts center will be performing Pride and Prejudice in the blackbox theatre this upcoming February, and Swing! will be the next show featured on their mainstage in March 2022.
