The boys tennis season has been off to a rough start, but not for captain senior Andrew Cavett.
The team played Sewickley Academy March 20 and lost 5-0. While this wasn’t a good result, the team showed signs of improvement after playing the best team in the section.
The boys bounced back March 22 against Riverside High School when they won 4-1. Cavett, senior Zane Atkins, sophomore Joey Pruszenski, and junior Ian McCarty-Cogis all won their respective matches during the game.
The Bobcats faced another tough opponent March 24 when they faced Quaker Valley High School and lost 4-1. Cavett was the lone Bobcat who came away with a victory.
The Bobcats had two players qualify to compete in WPIAL section singles March 28. Cavett and senior Zack Masters both qualified for the tournament. The top-three players in the bracket would qualify for WPIAL singles.
“Although we haven’t gotten the results we wanted, the season has been super fun and our team is great this year,” said Atkins.
The Bobcats took on rivals Central Valley April 3 where they lost a close, hard fought match 3-2. Cavett, McCarty-Cogis, and Pruszenski all won their respective matches.
The Bobcats have one last home game April 10 against Beaver Falls which will also be senior night for the team.
