Shadow and Bone is a new Netflix series. The series is based on the Six of Crows and Shadow and Bone books by Leigh Bardugo, but it seems as if Netflix put their own spin on things.

Kaz Brekker the leader of the crows, Inej Ghafa the assassin, Jesper Fahey the sharpshooter, Nina Zenik a Heartwrender, Mattias Helvar the Fjerdian, and Wylan Van-Eck the rich kid hope to find their way in to the fold (explained below). These criminals want to enter the fold in order to retrieve an artifact for money by bring it back in Ketterdam.

Six of Crows is about the six infamous criminals who band together just for monetary gain. In this Netflix series that is still true, but the series Six of Crows and Shadow and Bone were on completely different time lines. In this show, Netflix combines both timelines into one which, I think, is an interesting approach to the series.

Shadow and Bone on the other hand is relatively the same. I mean the series is called Shadow and Bone, duh. Alina Starkov, a cartographer, grew up in the fold before the plaque took over. The Darkling or the Black Heretic, created the fold centuries before which destroyed all the towns within that stretch of land and created the infamous creatures called Vulcra.

General Kirigan, the commander of the First Army, is looking for a way to destroy the fold, or is he?

Although they all have different motivations, Alina Starkov, Mail Orestev, Kaz Brekker, Inez Ghafa, and Jesper Fahey band together to find out what General Kirigan is up to. Who is he?
