Now through a quarter of 2023, many artists have released new music. Here are nine great tracks you might have missed but should definitely give a listen.
“Let The Light In” - Lana Del Rey & Father John Misty
A breezy guitar-centered collab from Del Rey’s new album, “Let The Light In” is a tribute to the 60s and 70s music Del Rey and Misty are so inspired by. It’s not the most philosophical track on the album, but it’s certainly a well structured and performed song and a good song to have on your playlist.
“I Believe” - Caroline Polechek
Featuring some of the most interesting production of this year, “I Believe” is a bright sounding futuristic ballad hidden by intense electronic beats and erratic production. The key moments of this song make it one of the most interesting tracks released this year.
“$20” - boygenius
One of the indie pop trio’s singles from their new album, “$20’s” lyrics feature strong imagery, emotion, and the song itself has amazing composition building to a perfect emotional climax with member Phoebe Bridgers executing a fantastic scream in the background.
“Nothing’s Free” - Angel Olsen
A downtempo indie ballad with a cathartic saxophone backing, “Nothing’s Free” is one of the most somber ballads released this year, thanks in part to its nostalgic old Hollywood sound. Olsen’s voice is always a captivator, and on this track that ability takes center stage.
“Glorietta” - Tennis
On the indie pop duo’s new album, Pollen, Tennis sticks to their roots of peppy and smooth flowing tracks. “Glorietta” features a bit more of a pop rock sound, a genre that’s been regaining traction. “Glorietta" is catchy, has witty lyrics, and is all over a good listen.
“Big Man, Little Dignity” - Paramore
A strong return to the industry, “Big Man, LIttle Dignity” is a standout track on Paramore’s new album. If you’ve liked the other pop rock music out right now, or any of Paramore’s past music, this song would definitely be up your alley.
“LLYLM” - Rosalia
Rosalia can’t make bad music, and her new single is proof of that. The strong melody and relatively simple reggaeton pop production behind it make for another strong release by the Latin singer.
“3 Boys” - Omar Apollo
A strong single from the up-and-coming pop star, 3 Boys is a strong ballad with simple yet efficient production. The repetitive background riffs give the song a nostalgic sound, and Apollo’s vocals are strong throughout the track.
“Lean Beef Patty” - JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown
The most chaotic rap song released this year by far, Lean Beef Patty is a fascinating listen. From the sped up talking backtrack to the almost Mario kart sounding trap production, it’s going to be a hit or miss for most people, but it’s a fun listen regardless.
