It’s pretty safe to say that since the founding of our country, the core principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness that our great nation was built upon have been forgotten. However, just because they are forgotten doesn’t mean that they aren’t still relevant.

The United States Constitution and the Declaration of Independence weren’t written for the times, but to stand the test of time. In these times of great national turmoil and divide, our solutions lie with the founding fathers, the great men who were the masterminds behind our great country. Their brilliant speeches and writings were a driving force for unification in the early days of the United States, and if we were willing to just look to them and learn from them, they could unify our nation once again.

Samuel Adams once said that “the truth is, all might be free if they valued freedom, and defended it as they ought.”

Do people now really value our freedom, or is it something that they have taken for granted because they don’t know anything else? Our brave military men and women have fought and sacrificed their lives for the protection and preservation of our freedom; they are the real reasons we as Americans are even capable of taking something as precious as freedom for granted.

“But a constitution of government once changed from freedom can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever,” professed John Adams.

Now more than ever we need to really listen to and understand these words from John Adams. The Socialist ideologies that far-left politicians are trying to infringe on our country will, without a doubt, take away the liberties and freedoms that we have grown so accustomed to and that are the bedrock of our constitution.

It is absolutely necessary to grasp freedom even tighter and resist the Socialist lifestyle that some leftist politicians, like Bernie Sanders and AOC, are trying to force us to. If we let our liberty go, if we let politicians throw our country down that rabbit hole, then we may never recover from it.

“If the freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter,” warned George Washington.

In times of struggle, who better to turn to than the father of our country and the man most credited to our victory in the American Revolution. But in recent times, cancel culture has become an extremely prevalent method of defense for the Democrats; if they see something that makes them upset, they simply ‘cancel’ it and vilify you if you attempt to resist. Everything is censored to fit the principles of the leftist agenda, the media has turned on all things considered ‘Republican’ or ‘traditional’ and have attempted to silence and target pretty much every single major right-sided voice. In doing this, Democrats wage war on the first amendment and set the system so that only they can win. We must win back our freedom of speech and press, ignore the leftist standards for acceptable speech, and stop trying to please everyone. We don’t live in a perfect world, and we never will: that’s simply the cold-hard truth.

Do your research and learn more about the principles these men built our country on as I wholeheartedly believe that the only way to save our country is to return to some of the basics. Stop trying to please everyone or protect everyone’s feelings and turn our focus to the basic teachings of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
