The Art Cove isn’t the only area of the school decorated in bright colors and creative works, because it’s time for the annual Art Show.
This year’s Art Show, May 13, was organized by seniors Lauren Kredel, Cara Phillips, and Lila Collins as their senior project. These girls also oversee the Art Club which meets every Wednesday morning before school, but for the Art Show they coordinated all the student art displays, secured venders and musical performers, and communicated with the school when the show would be.
The theme for this year’s show was fairy forrest, and although the artwork submitted to the show doesn’t have to match the theme, the display areas were decorated with forest animals and trees created by the art students.
Students in all of Mrs. Steffes’s and Ms. Zahn’s art classes created artwork featured in the show, and even some students who aren’t in any art class could showcase work.
Although, the art displays weren’t the only activities at the art show.
“We had a Kona Ice Truck, food trucks, and live entertainment,” said Kredel.
The live entertainment consisted of live music by the orchestra quintet, song
performances by senior Simon Potts and sophomore Sophia Hahn, and poetry readings.
Art was displayed in the auditorium lobby and hallway area along with the forest decorations.
“There were so many people you could barley walk through the hallway,” shared Kredel about the evening’s impressive turnout.
Kredel, Phillips, and Collins were pleased with the turnout and glad everything went well. The girls all said it went better than they ever could have imagined it going.
The girls are excited to see the younger members of the club and hope they will host other more creative art shows in the future.
