The Ladycats basketball team wrapped up their section play on a winning streak.
Traveling to Lincoln Park, the Ladycats needed to win to secure their playoff spot.
February 3, they dominated Lincoln Park 58-29.
Sophomore Annsley Baker Led with 29 points, and junior Ava Wright followed with 12.
The Ladycats then hosted the Hampton Talbots at home February 6. The final score was 61-36. Baker again led with 27 points, and senior Chloe Tooch added 8.
This win helped the Bobcats to a 10-2 record in section, with their only losses being to Blackhawk. The Ladycats’ overall record going into the playoffs was 17-4 and set the Cats at the five seed for the first round.
February 17, the Ladycats earned a home game for their first playoff match-up against the Freeport Yellowjackets.
After missing the playoffs last year, with the Bobcats being a young team, they knew they needed to take care of business, and that’s exactly what they did.
The Ladycats took their first playoff win in a blowout, 62-28. Wright led the Ladycats with 19, and senior Emerson Connelly netted 12.
The next game was just three days later giving the Ladycats little time to rest before their match up against Elizabeth Forward.
February 20, the quarter finals were held at Montour High school.
The Ladycats got off to a slow start scoring only 16 in the first half and didn’t catch up until the third quarter where they went on a 9-2 run against Elizabeth Forward.
Unfortunately, the Ladycats couldn’t keep the momentum and ended up losing 63-52.
Wright led scoring with 19 points and Baker followed with 17.
After the loss, the Ladycats will play a consolation game to determine their seed for a run in state playoffs.
