It’s Christmas season! With the air getting cold and everyone starting to bring out their Christmas decorations, it’s time to start playing Christmas music. These next 10 songs are students’ favorites at Beaver Area High School.

The top-voted Christmas song of 2021 is “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey. This song is not just popular at Beaver Area, but so far this year, this song has been played over 31.5 million times (and over 683 million times since 2010!).

The song that comes in second place is “Mistletoe” by Justin Beiber. This song came from Beiber’s 2011 Christmas album, Under the Mistletoe. This song has over 1 million downloads and has hit number 1 on Billboard’s “Holiday 100.”

Third place is “Last Christmas.” You can find 150 different versions sung by many different people, but two of the most popular are the original sung by Wham! and Ariana Grande’s remake.

Fourth place is “Jingle Bell Rock.” The first person who sang this popular Christmas song was Bobby Helms in 1957 (with the signature guitar lick by Hank Garland).

Fifth place is “Feliz Navidad.” This song was written in 1970 by Puerto Rican singer-songwriter José Feliciano.

Sixth place is “Santa Tell Me” by Ariana Grande. This hit is on Grande’s Christmas album Christmas Kisses that was released in 2014.

Seventh place is 1953’s “Santa Baby” by Eartha Kitt—the first ‘sexy’ Christmas song (am I even allowed to say that?). “Santa Baby” has over 620,000 downloads, and many streams increasing every year during the Christmas season.

Eighth place is “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.” This song has been sung by countless musicians, but the most popular version at Beaver Area is sung by Michael Bublé.

Ninth place is “Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree” from 1958 by Brenda Lee. Over 25 million copies of this song have been sold, and is the fourth most downloaded digital Christmas song.

Last but not least, in tenth place is “The Christmas Song.” This song was first sung by the Nat King Cole Trio in 1945 but since has been recorded by numerous musicians.

This list ranges from songs produced before 1950 to songs produced today. The students at Beaver Area seem to like a bit of everything, from the classics to whatever Justin Beiber is.
