These girls can not stop winning!
The coaches leading the girls volleyball team deserve a round of applause. Thanks to head coach Tyler Szymanski and assistant coaches Susan Pollins, Joseph Reiff, and Tom Schrecengost, the volleyball team is doing great in the playoffs.
To prepare for their playoff run, the team played two scrimmages against Thomas Jefferson High School and Baldwin High School October 21. The games were purely for practice so there were no scores kept. But the scrimmages were very beneficial for the team because both schools play in higher divisions forcing the girls to really up their game.
Three days later, the girls took a trip to Avonworth High School October 24 where they faced Deer Lakes High School for the first round of WPIAL playoffs. The game ended with a solid win in Bobcats’ favor of 3-0.
October 29, the team played again against Sierra Catholic High School in Peters Township. To no surprise, the Bobcats took the win 3-1.
“Going into the game there were some nerves, but I was confident in my team’s ability to get the job done. I’m really proud of how we played, but we still have room to improve for the upcoming games,” said senior Lauren Sullivan.
For the third round of playoffs, the girls played a spooky game October 31. It was against North Catholic High School at North Allegheny. Sadly, the outcome was 3-1 them knocking the ‘Cats out of the WPIAL hunt.
But the team isn’t done yet—the girls start state playoffs tomorrow.
