As seniors in high school, we are qualified homecoming veterans. With our immense high school knowledge we can confidently report on our upcoming homecoming spectacular.
The evening, September 28, promises to be a bash.
Located in both the gymnasium and cafeteria, there should be plenty of room for the night’s beautiful dresses.
Tickets for the long-awaited evening went on sale for $15 September 10 during period 5 and 6 lunches and continues until September 20.
Keeping things simple, this year's theme is our school's iconic colors: maroon and gray.
However, what’s a school event without a little controversy: what’s up with the time this year?
Scheduled to last from 5–7 p.m., only 2 hours, some students were surprised by the shortness of the event—and so early!
Will we have to worry about our carriages turning into pumpkins and our riches to rags? Will our HoCo heels turn to glass slippers on the steps of the gym floor? I guess we’ll find out!
One homecoming bound senior, Tessica Ho, said she “would prefer if it was later, so the sun would be down at least.”
Dam leader and President of Spanish club, Sami Gonzales, mentioned, “The theme [maroon and gray] is bogus and [the event] starts way too early; I want to enjoy my time with friends, not worry about wasting the sun.”
However, high school principal Mr. Sean Snowden explained that at last year’s homecoming dance so many students wanted to leave early claiming they had dinner reservations and other plans, it was decided to start and end this year’s dance earlier to accommodate these students.
As with all other homecoming dances before, the dance attire will be semi-formal with light refreshments served.
The sophomore class officers have been meticulously preparing for the event, working non-stop for several weeks.
You might even get to see some of your favorite teachers headlining as chaperones. Miss. Bauer, Miss Battaglini, Mr. Mundy, Mrs. Misko, Mrs. O'Rorke, and Mr. Brown will be in attendance.
Teacher, Homecoming sponsor, and Latin connoisseur Mrs. Mundy said, “We are excited that homecoming will be a celebration about the school that weekend.”
Speaking for the whole high school, we are certainly indebted to this handful of students for providing us with this opportunity to make memories no matter what time of day and what theme.
