I would like to start off this bucket list recap by saying: “FINALLYYYY!”
After the whole of December without a really good and heavy snow, we are blessed by Snow Miser.
Although this snow is late, I am ecstatic that the powdery snow is gone and the real snow is back—the snow from our childhoods.
Sooooo I have to confess, we did not do as well on this bucket list (see the last BASD ECHO and below) as I was hoping . . . But we did do a fair bit of what we hoped to accomplish . . .
I am happy to announce that out of the 12 bucket list items, we completed 10.
Now I know what you’re thinking: isn’t that good; you did all but two?
And normally I would agree with you, but many of these items were completed on our lonesome which was against the true spirit of the holidays: togetherness.
We all decorated for Christmas awaiting Santa’s arrival with beautiful fir trees and gorgeous passed-down ornaments in our respective homes. I made sure to meticulously set up my Christmas town for one of the last times at my parents’ house . . . The plastic ice skating rink had never looked so beautiful.
With these comforting decorations in place we watched our favorite Christmas movies with our families fortifying traditional film watchings! This year my brother and I watched the movie Friday on Christmas along with National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
Snowbody made a snowman :((. Due to the puny snow and lack of it, we couldn’t build a real and true snowman. Global warming did not warm our hearts.
However, we drank a ton of hot cocoa. We escaped the harsh winter chill with hot chocolate with extra marshmallows pictured in the story header.
Another disappointment was that none of us built or decorated a gingerbread house. Although one upside could be the escape from the frustrating building process or the trouble of trying to preserve them even though you know they will get destroyed next year.
Kayla, Kallie, and I made Christmas cookies together. We made sugar cutout cookies and later brookies (brownies with cookies baked on top). They were delish!
Kayla made reindeer food for her dogs (dog treats) and kept her reindeer healthy and thriving for next Christmas adventures.
Although we did not see the play, Christmas at Pemberley, we saw many movies that were released around or on Christmas.
We saw two movies that were released Christmas day, one being Nosferatu. I saw Wicked with my mom and grandmother and it was amazing.
Of course each of us also had our own respective Christmas dinners with our fams. Kallie’s family traveled all the way to Tennessee!
The final item left to cover was going to Beaver’s Light Up Night. I was the only adventurer to visit Light Up Night. While there I visited the local shops for Christmas presents for the fam. I got many cute things and obvs the free hot cocoa and donut.
We accomplished so much and I am so proud of our ECHO fam for embracing the beauty of the holidays!
