It’s that time of year again—those girls are outside of Giant Eagle bribing you with delicious boxes of Girl Scout Cookies.
I’m not complaining though because this is the only time all year you can get yourself a box of your favorite Girl Scout Cookies.
If you’ve already preordered boxes (if they aren’t here by now) they should be delivered by late February or early March. If you haven’t preordered, there is always an opportunity to buy cookies at pop-up booths.
Girl Scouts typically set up booths or sales tables outside local businesses, at the mall, or outside grocery stores so keep your eye out for cookies!
This year’s cookie selection are pretty similar to last year, but there’s a new cookie joining the bunch.
The Raspberry Rally is a new cookie available this year and you might kind of recognize it. From the outside the cookie looks like the classic Thin Mint, but once you take a bit of it you’ll get a delicious taste of raspberry rather than the mint.
Sadly, the only place you can purchase the Raspberry Rally “is exclusively offered through digital channels for direct shipment only, enhancing Girl Scouts’ e-commerce sales and entrepreneurial skills.” That means the Raspberry Rally will not be offered at any pop-up booths.
As usual, cookies available other than Raspberry Rally are Adventurefuls, Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Do-si-dos, Trefoils, Lemon-Ups, Girl Scout S’mores, and Toffee-tastic.
The Adventurefuls were new last year and were such a hit that they are back this year. It’s a delicious brownie like cookie topped with a caramel crème and a hint of sea salt.
The classic Thin Mint is the number-one best seller and is easily the most recognizable cookie. It’s a crispy chocolate and mint cookie.
The yummy Samoa (my favorite) is a crispy caramel, coconut, and chocolate cookie.
One of the classic peanut butter cookies is the Tagalong. It’s a cookie layered with peanut butter and all covered in a chocolate coating.
The Tagalong’s sister cookie is the other peanut butter cookie the Do-si-do. It’s an oatmeal sandwich cookie with a peanut butter filling.
The Trefoil is the Girl Scout’s version of a simple shortbread cookie which pairs great with coffee, tea, or milk.
You might remember the Savanna Smile lemon cookie from your childhood, but recently that cookie has been replaced with the Lemon-Up. Lemon-Ups are obviously still lemon but they are also crispy and have inspiring messages baked into them.
It’s like you’re camping again with the Girl Scout S’more. It’s a graham cracker cookie sandwich with marshmallow and chocolate layers.
Finally, the Toffee-tastic cookie is the Girl Scout’s gluten free offering. Along with being gluten free it’s a buttery soft cookie with toffee baked in.
“It always excites me so much when I go to Walmart and see all the little girls selling cookies. The Samoas are definitely my favorite, but the runner up is Thin Mints,” said senior Isabella Ord.
The classic cookies are available for both preorder and at pop-up booths for $5 per box, except S’more and Toffee-tastics which are $6.
