As the regular season wraps up, the Bobcat Cagers try to add more wins to their season record.
For the first game of the regular season the boys tipped off against Lincoln Park High School, so to start the second half of the season, the boys took on the Lincoln Park Leopards January 26.
The Leopards always bring intense competition to the court. During the game, both teams battled back and forth for possession until the Leopards unfortunately pulled ahead at the end of the game resulting in a heartbreaking 79-65 loss for the Bobcats.
Junior Aiden Townsend had a great performance on the court against the Leopards with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks earning him player of the game.
Blackhawk High School is another huge section rival for the Bobcats. With back to back games against their toughest competition, the boys knew they had to be focused and determined to win against the Cougars.
Despite the effort, drive, and focus displayed by the Bobcats, the Cougars took charge on the court and defeated the Bobcats 57-35.
Townsend led the team with another stellar performance naming him player of the match again—14 points, 7 blocks, and 4 rebounds.
“We continue to build one day at a time. I know if we keep working hard, we can still make it far,” said junior Liam Gibson.
After two tough losses, the Bobcats were searching for a win—especially on senior night. February 1, the boys basketball team celebrated seniors Josh Hill and Ryan Noel with a mid court ceremony before they tipped off against Ambridge High School.
The Bobcats dominated the entire game, keeping possession and creating play opportunities to net more points than the Bridgers. A much needed 82-53 win for the Bobcats senior night.
Junior Sawyer Butler was named player of the game for his outstanding performance against the Bridgers—24 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals.
“We’ve had a tough couple of losses, so it was nice to get a win finally,” said junior Ryan Medvec.
After a short break, the Bobcats returned to the court February 8 to tip off against Quaker Valley High School. Despite the team’s hard work and efforts displayed on the court, the Bobcats came up short losing 86-60 to QV.
Butler was again named player of the match scoring 9 points, having 7 assists, and 3 steals.
The next day, February 9, the Bobcats traveled to Montour High School to take on the Spartans. Earlier in the season, the Bobcats played a great game against the Spartans, but came short. Unfortunately, this game against Montour was no different.
The game was another back and forth match up for the Bobcats. Both teams battled to keep possession and racked up points, but the Spartans pulled ahead in the fourth quarter resulting in a 71-58 Bobcat loss.
This week the Bobcats finish the regular season with an away game against South Fayette High School at 6 p.m.
Playoffs have not yet been determined for the Bobcats, but with an 8-11 record, the team might have a chance to sneak their way into the playoffs.
