It’s time to take time to appreciate our amazing soccer seniors and get back to work earning a playoff spot.
Senior night September 26 actually started in the morning with juniors, sophomores, and freshmen making and wearing shirts honoring the soccer seniors.
The shirts said “I [heart] my senior” and each shirt color was picked by the designated senior for their group.
That night during the senior night game against the Hopewell Vikings, it was time to honor the seniors and reflect upon their high school soccer careers.
The seniors honored were Abby Noah, Kat Eck, Ana Avdellas, Hailey Tooch, and Lynsey Kuhlman.
Each senior got to walk the 50 yard line which was lined by their teammates and the Bobcat cheer team. The seniors were escorted by their families through the soccer ball arch where they could get their picture taken.
The seniors were also given a bouquet and a goodie bag for their special night.
“Senior night is something I will never forget. It was a very special moment with my family and teammates that was very memorable and very well put together. I will definitely remember that night forever,” Tooch praised the ceremony.
After the senior ceremony, it was game time. Beaver Area faced the Vikings in a crazy section game that had all fans on the edge of their seats.
The nail-biting match ended in a 3-3 tie after double overtime.
September 28 the girls were back at it again for another section game.
This game was away at Central Valley and this was the second time the Warriors would take on the Cats this season.
In the last game the Bobcats beat Central Valley 4-1, but their most recent game Beaver Area beat them 2-0 on CV’s home turf.
When October 5 came around, the Bobcats were ready for a rematch. The girls were to play Avonworth who last game beat the Bobcats 5-0 in an upset game.
Sophomore Emerson Connelly said, “I felt nervous [about the game] but also hopeful because I believed we could win.”
In the end the girls didn’t get the highest result. During the rematch the Bobcats held the Lopes to a single goal in a 1-0 loss. Although not a win, it was improvement from the first time the two teams played.
“The [Avonworth] game was played really well. We fought hard and we were all in the game wanting to win,” sophomore Carly Hauser offered.
Playoffs isn’t out of the question for the girls, and there’s still a change the Bobcats will make it—they need to beat QV, Ambridge, and Hopewell in their upcoming contests.
Coach Nick Crivelli tells the girls to “Keep [their] heads high and never stop fighting.”
