Finally. The Beaver Area boys basketball team scored their first big win of the season against Hopewell January 11. The Bobcats dominated the Vikings throughout the game not letting them within 10 points. They defeated the Hopewell Vikings 61-43.
“It was really nice to get our first win; hopefully that sparks what we need to get us into playoffs,” said senior Mason Rose.
A very exciting evening for the Beaver Area boys basketball team, but the winning didn’t stop there.
The team hosted the Blackhawk Cougars January 15 at home. It was a close game; Beaver held their lead by two points through most of the first half. The Cougars started to come back towards the end but the Bobcats didn’t let them. The game ended with a 51-45 win for the Beaver Bobcats.
“We played a full team game last night; it was a good win. Now we have to get ready for the second stage of section games,” said senior Mike Champ.
And that second stage began with a “three-peat” for the team, 59-48 against the Ambridge Bridgers. January 18 at home the boys dominated the court working together and playing as one.
“They started [the season] off slowly but now the spark against Hopewell has started a fire,” said fan Harrison Pontoli.
The team’s next game will be January 29 against the Central Valley Warriors on our home court.
