On May 11 the Beaver Area JROTC Raider team completed in the annual Northwestern Raider competition. The competition was held at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
The team performed the best they ever have winning first place in all of the events except one. The RPC, the event they came in second on, was because of a 30 second penalty the team didn’t agree with but overcame in the end.
Team captain senior Anthony Perini stated, “we had a very young team this year; I am so grateful that the younger members of the team really stepped up and played a huge role in the team’s victory.”
The Raider team this year was one of the youngest teams they have ever had.
The team had four seniors, one junior, six sophomores, and one freshman.
The team completed in five events: RPC, CCR, Two Mile, One Rope, and Gauntlet.
Team member junior Alec Coulter said, “I am so grateful for this team and how we really came together to overcome all the challenges we faced this year.”
“They did amazing; they exceeded all my expectations, and I am very proud of them,” said Colonel Loudermilk.
