No, it’s not the 1970’s, but Boogie Wonderland was a hit! With over 200 attendees, the annual Beaver Area High School Art Show was a major success.
Student art show coordinators, seniors Rachael Lamb, Georgia Engle, Zane Atkins, and Abby Dawson organized the show as their senior projects. With the help of Art Club members, custodial staff, and incredible teachers, Mrs. Zahn and Mrs. Steffes, the seniors planned and organized throughout the school year to pull off this event.
The Art Show’s theme was Disco: the auditorium entrance was decorated with disco balls, records, dance floor, a Saturday Night Fever Travolta cutout, neon, and glitter.
The seniors didn’t just want to host a regular art show, they wanted an art and disco experience. Outside the auditorium, there was paint throwing on large canvases, and delicious food provided by Mommalicious Food Truck.
Art classes 1-3, Studio Art, and AP Art displayed their work for all to see. From charcoal drawings to oil paintings, the art variety was impressive.
Some art students sold their art work and prints while Art Club sold hand dyed and screen printed original t-shirt designs.
Junior Trent Liptak said, “It was a really great experience to see everyone’s art and also show my work.”
Art show coordinator and stained glass artist, Rachael Lamb, sold her original stained glass artwork and jewelry. Junior Tess Foster sold her handmade jewelry, and sophomore Kayla Head sold some of her own art prints. Many other students sold their work too—it was a mini art fair.
As this art show was Mrs. Steffes’s last, the students really wanted to make it special. Mrs. Steffes was a major factor in the art show’s success and art students’ progress.
Senior AP Art student Chloe Meyer said, “I thought the art show was so amazing and fun. I’ve talked so many people that went, and they’ve said that it’s the best school event they went to.”
Junior Reese Lindeman also shared that “The 2023 art show was one of the best experiences of my life! I’ve never put my art out like that, and I was genuinely surprised by how much I loved doing that. Huge props to Abby, Zane, Georgia, and Rachael for creating such an amazing event!”
Thank you for everyone who attended and supported the art show! It was a wonderful evening that I certainly won’t forget. Thank you to all the students who participated—and Mrs. Steffes and Mrs. Zahn who helped make our vision turn into reality. Peace outINLINEIMAGEINLINEIMAGEINLINEIMAGEINLINEIMAGEINLINEIMAGE
