¡Hola! Rodrigo Morales has come from Madrid, Spain for one year at Beaver Area High School to improve his English, see a new part of the world, and broaden his horizons.
The first half of the year Rodrigo is living with the Larson family, and for the second half of the year he will be living with the Dingo family.
Rodrigo’s favorite part of being here is being part of the soccer team; he plays right defender. He also enjoys attending school events like the football games.
“I have fun, and I like to meet a lot of different people at the [football] games,” he said.
“It is the easiest one [for me], and I really enjoy the teacher [Mr. Hank] and classmates,” Rodrigo said.
However, the biggest difference between Beaver Area High School and his school in Spain is that in Spain there are no lockers and the teachers move to the classrooms while the students stay put.
There is about 50 students per grade in San Ramon y San Antonio, Rodrigo’s home school compared to Beaver Area where there are about 175 students per grade level.
Even though he enjoys being here not surprisingly he misses his friends and family back in Spain.
“I miss my friends and family a lot; I love being here, but I’m excited to be able to see them when I go back [in June],” Rodrigo said.
