After a rough start to the season the Bobcats hockey team were able to get closer to wins and eventually picked up a win.
November 14 the Icecats hosted Greensburg Salem where they went back and forth with each other. After exchanging goals all night, including two goals each from freshman Sammy Mecchia and seniors Zack Masters and Trevor Schmidt, the Bobcats fell short 8-6.
After having their best offensive performance of the season the Bobcats looked to build off of it going into their game at Kiski November 25. The Bobcats were able to snap the three-game losing streak and pick up the win 4-2 with goals from Danny Cogis, Masters, Mecchia, and Schmidt.
Looking to build on the win from last game the Cats traveled to Greensburg Salem December 5 with hopes to come home with a win. After falling behind early in the game the deficit was too insurmountable to overcome and the Bobcats fell 7-3.
After falling behind 5-0 the Bobcats scored three straight to pull within two goals of the lead thanks to goals from Masters, Mecchia, and Schmidt.
“It’s not the ideal start [to the season], but we have a young team and we are developing well,” said Masters.
The Bobcats last home game before Christmas break is against Wheeling Catholic December 19 at the Brady’s Run Ice Arena at 6:45 p.m.
The Icecats also take on their shared home ice rivals Blackhawk January 2 at the Brady’s Run Ice Arena at 6:45 p.m. The game is sure to be exciting.
