Beaver Area High School musicians traveled once again.
Senior Gretchen Berendt, juniors Nicholas Palombo, Bailey O’Leary, and Evan Linkimer, and sophomores Emma Sewall and Autumn Westmoreland participated in the PMEA Region Orchestra festival February 23.
“Region orchestra was very exciting. It was really neat to get to play with so many talented people,” said Sewall.
The festival was hosted at Hollidaysburg High School, and was guest conducted by Mr. Scott Laird from the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics.
“I had a great time. The conductor picked really good music, and I made some new friends,” said Berendt.
The pieces played at the festival were The Cowboys Overture, Sinfonia II D major, Awakening, Symphonie Fantastique movement IV, and Matinées Musicales.
“Region orchestra was a great learning experience where I was able to meet many new people in our area. We had a great conductor at the festival who picked a good music selection for the group,” said Linkimer.
Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the festival, and to Sewall who qualified by audition and will be advancing to the PMEA All State orchestra festival in April. Also a special congratulations to Berendt who auditioned and was accepted into All-East orchestra in April.
