Beaver Area School District's STAP program hosted another visitor April 17, when Bedford School District administrators visited in the hopes of learning about establishing their very own technology assistance program.
While this may seem like a special occasion, according to our district Tech Director and STAP administrator Mr. James Shay, the school hosts anywhere from two to five school visits per year, with similar goals to this one, with Bedford happening to be the latest one.
Multiple administrators from Bedford visited, but they brought no students with them, unlike some other visiting schools.
To aid Bedford in its goal, Mr. Shay walked them through the origins of the program to the present day.
"We started with the basics and how we started with three kids in a study hall to how we got the iPads, and then to how we got the space for the program [in the tech room]," Mr. Shay explained.
For visits to the STAP program, it is standard for students to present, and this time was no different.
"We presented on what our individual departments did," said sophomore Grace Druschel, head of the STAP financial department. "Our school's administration were pretty impressed."
"[The Bedford administrators] were very impressed and had lots of questions," said sophomore Maddi Giamo, secretary of the STAP program.
The program has also kept up contact with Bedford, offering them additional advice and answering their questions about their budding program.
Hopefully, Bedford has what it takes to build a successful program on par with STAP.
