The wrestling Bobcats are back on the mat and ready to work!
“We have a good team this year, but not as many kids as last year. I’m excited to see how everyone progresses,” said senior wrestler Alec Coulter.
There are only six wrestlers on the team this year.
After making it to the first round of the playoffs last year the wrestlers are hoping to make it back and even go further by the end of this season.
The boys practice daily after school in the cafeteria from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The team had their first tournament December 6-7 at Chartiers High School. However juniors Mark Ramer and Brooks Miller were the only ones to attend this tournament, both having two wins and two losses in the tournament.
“I was happy to get two wins in the first tournament! I’m excited to see what else I can do this upcoming season,” Ramer stated.
This past weekend the team went up against Laurel and Moon High Schools. We will be reporting on the results in the next issue of the ECHO.
Their returning coach, Matthew Hundenski, is working to prepare the Bobcats for their fourth match which is December 19 at Ellwood City High School.
Here’s hoping they pin it.
