The Beaver Area Bobcats wrestling season has officially started! The team is ready to take down their opponents.
The season kicked off December 11 at home against Laurel. The team started off with a rough match, losing 76-2.
However, these wrestling Cats didn’t put their heads down—they returned to the mat to take on Lincoln High School away December 19. The team began finding their footing but unfortunately lost, 48-15.
Despite the losses, the team has shown continued improvement throughout the season.
The boys took on the Central Valley Warriors at home January 6. The team’s improvement showed in the score; unfortunately, they still lost but they continued to increase their score, 34-24.
“We wrestled well and came up, but I’m proud of our team and we have come a long way,” said senior wrestler Alec Coulter.
The Bobcats kept up the hard work when they took on the Blackhawk Cougars January 8 at home. Despite another loss they kept fighting for their points, 30-24.
The Bobcats wrestling team’s next match is February 5 at home against the Ambridge Bridgers at 7 p.m. Make sure to check back on the ECHO app for results.
