The Lady Cats' season has come to an end after a heartbreaking five-set loss in the PIAA State semi-finals to Oakland Catholic.

The game was a back and forth brawl between the two teams. Beaver Area had beaten Oakland Catholic in the WPIAL championship game but were not able to pull out another win November 11.

“This was such a special season and I’m so proud of my girls,” Coach Suze Pollins said.

The Cats ended the season with a section championship and a WPIAL championship; this was truly an incredible run.

“I’m so sad that the season had to come to an end; the senior class was so special and left a mark on this program,” shared junior Kaylee Kisling.

The Bobcats had five seniors: Aubrey Bumblis, Anna Vinopal, Kailyn Connelly, Lanie Malobabich, and Jaedyn Brown.

This class will be missed given that all of them were starters and played very key roles. They also had two players committed to play at the collegiate division-two level: Bumblis (PennWest Cal U) and Malobabich (UVA Wise).

Although the season did not end how they wanted, it was still a tremendous season that will be remembered. No other Bobcat team brought home a WPIAL championship this year, making the win even more special.

“It still doesn’t feel real that I just played my last ever volleyball game. I’m grateful I got to go out with my best friends,” said Vinopal.
