The Beaver Area High School basketball team is off to a hot start after going undefeated in their first five games.
After winning their opening game against Plum, the Bobcats went on to win the Brentwood Tip-off Classic after defeating Carrick 69-59 December 3.
The Bobcats kept their good fortune going in their home opener against Burgettstown with a blistering 84-33 win December 6.
The Bobcats’ success at home continued December 9 against Freedom Area High School when they took home another win by 50-plus points with the final being 78-24. Senior Aiden Townsend had a combined 31 points in those two games.
“They weren’t the best teams, but wins are wins and we played as a team,” said Townsend.
The Bobcats’ next game was a battle of the unbeaten when they took on South Fayette December 14, a school in the 5A classification. The Bobcats took home yet another win by the score of 58-53.
However, challenges await. The Bobcats will have a tough test in their first conference game when they travel to play against traditional powerhouse Lincoln Park Performing Arts December 16 at 7:30 p.m.
The Bobcats will have one more game before Christmas when they host Hopewell December 20 at 7:30 p.m. Before the new year rolls around the Bobcats will have a game December 29 at Upper Saint Clair in a non-conference match at 3 p.m.
Mark your calendars for the Bobcats first two games in the new year when they travel to their fierce rivals Central Valley January 3 at 7:30 p.m. Then they host rivals Blackhawk January 6 at 7:30 p.m.
