Beaver Area High School proudly hosted this year’s county band festival November 21.
Seniors Nick Palombo, Evan Linkimer, Liana Kerr, Iñigo Vanaman-Martin, junior Gabe Bianco, sophomores Becca Mizer, Shannon Witkouski, Nolan Natali, and freshman Olivia Goe represented Beaver Area High School in the festival.
“County band was a wonderful experience. It was so much fun to play music with talented musicians from other schools, and I’d definitely do it again,” said Bianco.
The pieces played at the festival were Armed Forces - The Pride of America, Impact, Shenandoah, and Moravian Dances.
The high school county band was directed by Dr. Mark Godwin from Geneva College.
“County band is always a great opportunity to work with fellow musicians, meet new friends, and catch up with old pals from previous county bands,” explained Palombo.
A total of 100 students from Ambridge, Beaver Area, Beaver County Christian, Beaver Falls, Blackhawk, Central Valley, Freedom, Hopewell, Lincoln Park, New Brighton, Quigley Catholic, Riverside, Rochester, South Side, Western Beaver, and Wilmington participated in the festival.
“Our students did a fine job in representing our school and community. [Choir Director] Mrs. Metelsky and I enjoyed hosting this festival,” said Beaver Area High School Band Director Mr. J.P. Scanga.
Next up for Beaver Area High School’s talented musicians is PMEA Honors Band, which will be hosted at Westminster College.
