The Class of 2028’s powderpuff game was a day to remember. The bleachers buzzed as the crowd cheered on friendly rivalries in the annual fundraising event.

It wasn’t just a game—it was a moment when the sophomore class came together showing off their spirit and teamwork. For the first game, the sophomores played the juniors.

Unfortunately, the sophomores’ plays were mixed up, the passes didn’t always get caught, and the junior team kept scoring.

Sophomores Laney Cornman and Gianna Swogger played in the game hoping to make an impact. Cornman was not pleased with her performance, but Swogger was. They think overall their grade did not do as well as they could have.

Both Cornman and Swogger said they had lots of fun. They enjoyed the memories they made with their friends and team.

Cornman said, “I think the event was well planned and organized. Something they could have done better was spending less time arguing. Most of the game time was spent arguing on the calls of different plays.”

Swogger’s favorite thing about powderpuff was spending time with friends. Cornman’s favorite part was getting ready with her friends and playing offense.

Sophomore quarterback Giana Yaria threw two interceptions, but Cornman did not score at all just like the rest of their offense.

Cornman said, “We will need to play better next year in order to make a comeback. I think we can do it.”

When the game ended, it was clear they lost and they were disappointed, but they walked off the field together knowing they had fun and made good memories for a good cause.

The score against the juniors was 14-0 meaning the junior would advance to the final game where they fell to the seniors by the same score.
