The boys' tennis season ended as many on the team thought it would: in the first round of the playoffs.
Beaver Area lost 5-0 to the Highlands team May 14. This score isn’t as bleak as it sounds, however, with every game going to a third set.
“Everyone on the team gave it their all," said senior Jeff Allison.
The odds were certainly stacked against the Bobcat team, as Highlands was out of their division and was also able to field more than the minimum seven players.
The team finished with a 5-3 record during the regular season, earning them second place in their division behind the undefeated Central Valley.
Senior Jonathan Bickerton believes the team did well given the circumstances.
"Considering we only had the minimum number of players and that some of us hadn’t played [competitive team] tennis before, we did really well," Bickerton said.
Sophomore Andrew Cavett believes that the team's finish this year sets a good foundation to do even better next year.
"As long as we work together as a team and practice hard, we’ll get better over time with more experience. I feel like we could get first," Cavett predicted.
