As the technology side of Beaver Area grows, Mr. Tanner Kantz joined the teaching faculty this year as a new tech teacher in Beaver Area High School and Middle School.

Where did you go to high school?

North Hills High School.

Where did you go to college?

Robert Morris University.

How long have you been teaching?

I did some substituting last year.

Is this job what you have always wanted to do or did your “path” change and lead you to this new occupation?

Originally, no, but in college I saw what other industries are like, and I decided to go into teaching to be with students.

What is something you want your new students to know about you?

I want them to know that the classroom is a safe place and they are welcome to talk to me whenever.

What is your favorite part about your job?

Real world conversations you can have with students.

Did where you grow up have an impact on your occupation choice?

No, but I had good teachers at my high school, who inspired me along my journey, which later was motivation to start the path of helping others.

What is your biggest strength that will help your students at Beaver Area High School?

Probably my sense of understanding and my desire for [students] to succeed.

If you could teach another subject what would it be?

Wood shop.

Who was/is your biggest inspiration?

My former tech ed teacher, Mr. Cassandro, helped me not only become a better student but a better person, and I learned a lot of valuable lessons in his class.

What is one thing you wish your students would take away from you and remember for life?

Good morals, and taking pride in your work, and to not be afraid to fail and ask questions.
