During a summer when normal activities were discouraged, some students had a little more time to discover new shows and music, whether they were new releases or reliable classics.
Services like Netflix and Disney+ became hotspots for people searching for something new to keep them busy.
“I’ve been watching Criminal Minds a lot lately; it’s such a good show,” stated junior Jordan Beck.
Currently, the most popular shows on Netflix are Away, Cobra Kai, and Get Organized: The Home Edit. On Disney+, some current fan favorites are Boy Meets World, Agent Carter, and Marvel Runaways.
However, almost all productions of future shows and seasons have been postponed due to the coronavirus and many people are eagerly awaiting the next season of their favorite show to come out. While they wait, some people are trying to watch some different shows but can’t seem to get into them.
“I tried to watch Community, but I didn’t like it at all,” said sophomore Ella Peluso.
“I just tried to watch Supermarket Sweep and it was not my cup of tea,” admitted senior Isabella DiPietrantonio
Netflix and Disney+ are great, but some can’t wait to see the upcoming season of Survivor. Many are excited for the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars where Carole Baskin, from the infamous Netflix Documentary series Tiger King will be taking the dance floor.
Of course you can’t forget about the new releases! The last couple of months, many artists have released new albums or songs.
“Besides finding new songs on my discover weekly, album wise, I’ve been listening to Folklore by Taylor Swift a lot,” said DiPietrantonio.
Among high school students, the most popular kinds of music remain rock and pop, with your occasional country music fans.
“I prefer to listen to rock over any other type of music. I think it’s the best,” said junior Issac Tomacari.
“I think country music is hugely underrated,” said Beck proudly. “I’m a big country fan. “American Nights” by Chase Rice is currently my favorite song.”
Only one thing that could have made music better this summer is . . . the One Direction reunion.
Many got their hopes up when One Direction returned for their ‘10 Years of One Direction’ hoping they would release a new album. Unfortunately, there was no album . . . could 2020 get any worse?
“I’m still sadly waiting for One Direction to reunite and release a new album,” admitted Beck.
