Esports is back in full swing. After an unfortunate exit from their Super Smash Bros. Ultimate circuit last year, the club has started back up, now with a significant boost in members.
The Esports room (located in the library) is decked out with two Nintendo Switches, six PC towers, two Xboxes, and a variety of other consoles. The students are able to play on any of these consoles or computers during their meetings Wednesdays after school from 2:30-3:30.
Common games played are Overwatch 2, Super Smash Bros, Roblox, and really any school-appropriate multiplayer games you can find.
The Esports team hasn’t begun their season yet, but the team will be looking into games and divisions soon.
Due to the tough reality of not doing very well in Super Smash Bros. last year, the team is considering some other games, and the prime target in mind seems to be Overwatch 2.
The Esports room is glowing with many new faces this year, as now the middle schoolers and the high schoolers participate in the club on the same day, and past members are bringing their friends.
Esports club is under the direction of Mr. Grant Mundy with assistance from Mr. Louis Didio and Mr. Cam Brown.
The club kicked off last year, and now runs alongside an esports elective class as well.
“This club taught me to play Smash Bros one-handed,” said sophomore Jack Bechdel, a regular attendee.
