Look out, Miss America. You’ve got some competition.
This year’s annual Mr. Beaver High competition fundraiser will take place February 20 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the auditorium.
The junior class sponsors Mrs. Jody Shugert and Ms. Emily Tiberio are working with Mrs. Lori Guandolo to stage this exciting fundraising event. Mrs. Guandolo is helping organize judges, sponsors, tickets, programs, intermission entertainment, and snacks. Ms. Beth Spence will be doing the photography for this event.
As of now, this year’s contestants are William Lamb, Beckett Connelly, Josh Arend, Braydon Hansen, Ethan Gengrella, Nick Palombo, Connor Stewart, Alec Coulter, CJ Oravitz. The winner receives a pair of free prom tickets!
This year’s opening dance is choreographed by senior Bailey O’Leary.
Be sure you come and cheer on the guys no just for their dance but for their talents! Connelly will be telling your favorite dad jokes; Arend will be doing a contemporary dance; Hansen and Gengrella will be reenacting the “How Animals Eat Their Food” video; Lamb will be playing “Mary Had a Little Lamb” on the French horn; Palombo will be playing the piano and kazoo; Stewart will be showing off his archery skills; Coulter will be weightlifting; and Oravitz will be doing good art.
“I’m expecting to win this year, so you better be there to watch me go home as a champion,” boasted Arend.
All the proceeds will benefit the junior class prom fund, the Heart Association, and pediatric cancer research.
Last year’s winner, senior Brandon Kanell, will not be participating in the competition this year, so the participants will not have to worry about the reigning champion clinching first place again.
“I’m thankful that Mrs. Dietz [last year’s sponsor] and Mrs. Guandolo have offered so much expertise to Ms. Tiberio and me. I’m grateful for the junior class officers, prom committee, Ms. Spence, and of course our Mr. Beaver contestants are just simply amazing,” exclaimed Mrs. Shugert.
Be sure to be there to see a new king crowned (and several fools) February 20.
