2021, hopefully, will be a better year than 2020, and wouldn’t you like to capture all the memories you make this upcoming year?
In the spirit of capturing those memories, a new trend has become popular lately on different social media platforms. The one-second everyday video is a challenge to take a one-second video each day for the year ahead and at the end you will have a six-minute video of the past year.
The goal of the video is to help you reflect on the previous year and remember the little things or moments that are important to you that you may have forgotten. It’s also meant to be a motivator and challenges you to do something that is video worthy every day.
“I think this is going to be a great way to remember the good moments that made your day, but you ended up forgetting about,” shared Ella Peluso, a sophomore at Beaver Area High School who is excited to partake in the challenge.
Though it may be trending now, the one-second video challenge isn’t as new as it seems; it has been around for a few years and thousands of people have participated creating some amazing results. However, some people choose not to participate in the yearlong video, but instead record their clips over the summer when life isn’t as busy with school and work.
Isabella DiPietrantonio, a senior at Beaver Area, is eager to use this challenge as a way to capture the new chapter of her life that will begin in the fall.
“I take live photos and videos constantly, so being able to gradually piece them together into a one-second a day video seems ideal. I think it’ll be something super exciting to look back on since it’ll include my last year of high school and my first year of college transition,” shared DiPietrantonio.
But fear not if you’re new to one-second filmmaking. There are many apps that make it easy to create these videos. Among the most popular is the “1SE” app. This app allows you to film a video, trim it to the exact second that you want, and import it into a pre-made calendar for 2021. You can even set reminders to film a video for yourself so you never forget a day.
Leap Second and Clips are two more of the top choices people use when participating in this trend.
It’s not too late to start, so if you’re looking for a challenge for 2021 (that doesn’t involve some sort of political demonstration) get started!
