What’s that delicious and nostalgic smell? It’s the new (old) Mall Pizza!
The New York style pizza that was once in our mall food court is back—and it just might be what’s holding our mall together.
In 2021, Antony's Pizzeria in the Beaver Valley Mall food court closed after serving their beloved slices since 1987. It was a shock to our community and many people were upset.
Antony’s closed citing the raising rent in the mall. They couldn’t afford to renew their lease so the tough decision was made to close.
But Antony’s did not serve their last slice in 2021. Recently, Antony’s has rebranded as Mall Pizza under the same owner. Why “Mall Pizza” and not “Antony’s”? Everyone always called it “mall pizza” so why not embrace it?
Mall Pizza occupies the same spot Antony’s was in before and they have basically just picked up where they left off.
“It’s wonderful to be back,” said the Mall Pizza owner. “I’m astonished by the amount of support we have gotten in our opening. People seemed to have missed us.”
On the day I decided to visit Mall Pizza for the first time, the line wrapped around the food court. I had to wait in line for about 30 minutes, but the wait was very much worth it.
“This is actually the slowest it’s been all week. Within the fist opening days, the line was so long people were willing to wait an hour for our pizza,” the owner said.
To balance the high demand, Mall Pizza has had to limit their hours. They are closed Mondays and Thursdays while remaining open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
It’s worth a swing by to the best pizza place around. The pizzas are as big as your head and it tastes just like childhood. This pizza stand just might be what’s holding together the struggling Beaver Valley Mall.
Senior Jordan Lohry was very excited upon Antony’s (Mall Pizza’s) revival: “Mall Pizza tastes exactly how I remember from Antony’s, and I’m so happy they’re back!”
