We are back on the ground now after going to Mars with this year’s Beaver Area Marching Band’s halftime show, To Mars and Back.
The marching season was packed with excitement and enthusiasm.
This season’s show included the tunes ‘24K Magic’ and ‘Runaway Baby’ by Bruno Mars, ‘Applause’ by Lady Gaga, and ‘Starships’ by Nicki Minaj.
The band continued on their new tradition of dancing to drumline cadences and having a dance break during the halftime show.
Band Director Mr. J.P Scanga stated, “I am very proud of our marching band students this year. Our student leaders took initiative throughout the season and helped the band to make steady progress. In addition, our newest band members worked hard to meet our leaders' standard and contributed with vigor. Our staff members and I enjoyed working with the students again this season. Great job, everyone!”
Though marching season is over, the band will perform in Beaver’s annual Light Up Night Parade November 28 where students will be able to decorate their instruments with lights and other festive decorations.
Drumline Director Mr. Louis Didio shared, “The Beaver Area marching band wrapped up its season a few weeks ago at Freeport as they supported their football team during an exciting playoff game. From a staff perspective, I thought we had a fantastic season, grew a lot, and I am looking forward to what this group can become in the future.”
Adding to that, the band still has a performance at the Memorial Day parade in the spring, as the season is winding down to an end.
Assistant Band Director Mr. Steven Maker said, “The marching band did a great job this season with learning quickly, adapting to change, and working together. The band is slowly starting to grow—and there's always room for more to join! If anyone has ever thought about trying something new, building teamwork skills, or even just wanting a free ride to away football games, this is certainly the group to join.”
Great job to everyone involved in making this marching band season amazing!
