While concert band, concert choir, and orchestra pursue a seemingly endless schedule of festivals, for marching band it’s one and done.
October 19, the Beaver Area Varsity Marching Band participated in the Hopewell Band Festival.
“The band festival was a lot of fun! I really enjoyed listening to all of the other bands, and it was nice to meet and talk with people from the other bands,” said sophomore clarinet section leader Rebecca Mizer.
Besides Beaver Area, Ellwood City Marching Band, Rochester Area Marching Band, Steel Valley Marching Band, and Hopewell Area Marching Band also participated in the festival.
“The band festival was a really great time of hanging out with friends and being surrounded by people who share our love of music! Everyone definitely performed their best and our show and everyone else’s was really good,” said senior color guard section leader Sarah Mateer.
The football season is over, so the marching band will no longer be performing Friday nights this year. However, you can still see the band perform in parades in Beaver—such as Light up Night (November 29) and Memorial Day (May 25), as well as the Veterans Day Parade in New Brighton (November 11).
“I was really pleased with the band’s performance. I feel that our group represented Beaver very well,” said band director Mr. J.P. Scanga about the festival.
