The Fort McIntosh Chapter of the National Honor Society hosted their Trivia Night March 25. Featuring categories such as history, sports, geography, and art, the night was an entertaining and informative event for Beaver Area students and residents who came out to match wits and help a good cause.
The $350 raised will benefit UNICEF for Ukrainian children affected by the war.
The first-place team, “The Educators”, consisted of Beaver Area High School teachers: Mr. Thomas Kissick, Mr. Greg Inge, Mr. Ben Maracek, and Mr. Daniel Schlenke.
Schlenke exclaimed, “Trivia night is always a fun time. It was great to be back with some colleagues to defend our crown!”
The Educators claimed the last trivia championship in 2018.
In second place was “Shot in the Dark,” and coming in third were “The Ineffables”. Prizes for the winning teams consisted of gift cards and items donated by local businesses.
NHS provided those in attendance with an array of snacks and drinks paid for in the $5 admission cost.
National Honor Society President senior Krystof Purtell stated, “We had a great turnout, and besides a little controversy about cheating at the end [to break the tie for third place], I think it went pretty smoothly.”
This is the second major NHS fundraiser this year, the first being Valentine’s Day Match-O-Matics, in which a portion of the proceeds benefited Special Olympics.
Members of the NHS will also be helping at the upcoming Special Olympics Track and Field tournament April 22.
