A senior twirled his way to victory at the annual Mr. Beaver High competition with his beautiful ballerina twirls after he said he was “robbed of the competition last year.”
March 8, five of Beaver Area’s boys took the stage in order to compete for the title of Mr. Beaver High 2023 in this prom fundraising event.
Four seniors Michael DelSignore, Robert Cestra, Giovanni Nuzzo, and Jack Ray along with junior Ben Balitski participated in the event.
To start the competition, all the boys took part in the group dance to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” choreographed by senior Ana Avdellas.
Once they finished the group dance it was time for the swimsuit competition. As the boys walked out in their swimwear, their bios were read aloud to the auditorium crowd.
After that, the talent competition started with the first contestant, Balitski who sang a combination of two songs. He first sang “No Role Modelz” by J. Cole and then, after an outfit change on stage, sang “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele.
The second participant in the talent competition was DelSignore who sang the very complicated song “Tequila.”
After a short intermission, Nuzzo and Ray performed a combined talent. They fought each other in an intense boxing match where Nuzzo ultimately won.
The final talent act was performed by Cestra who performed a lovely dance to “Waltz of the Flowers.”
Following the talent portion the boys had to present themselves in formal wear with their escorts and answer fishbowl questions. Question examples included “What teacher would you like to sit next to on a plane?” and “What makes you stand out from the rest of the participants?”
After the judges’ deliberation (Mr. McElwain, Miss Pilarski, and Mr. Cibic) the winner was crowned . . . Your Mr. Beaver High 2023 is . . . Robert Cestra!
“Last year’s loss fueled my redemption arc. I’ve been training every day since for this year’s contest and it payed off. I feel like I rule the world,” said Cestra.
Not only did he win the title, he also won two free prom tickets and a $100 gift certificate to Ziggy’s Tuxedo Shop.
For the final surprise of the night, the prom theme was announced as Golden Galla!
