Beaver Area Cross Country is approaching the regular season finish line.
After a double victory from both our boys and girls teams over West Allegheny and Ambridge, our runners had a quick week break before getting back in action, kicking off with a meet at Brady’s Run against Chartiers Valley and New Castle October 1.
The boys were able to clinch their undefeated season and section title with another double victory, and the girls followed suit with a double victory of their own.
The boys captured all three top spots for their race with senior Tyler Biss in first with a time of 17:11, junior Isaac Burtt in second running a 17:28, and senior Ryan Groff in third with a 17:35 time.
The girls also managed to claim two of the top three spots with senior Rylie Teapole running a 21:02 and senior Danica Purtell running a 21:36.
Up next for the teams was the Grove City Invitational October 5, where Tyler Biss ran an impressive 16:17 to take sixth for the boys, with Ryan Groff and Isaac Burtt following with times of 17:14 and 17:16, respectively. The boys team was able to grab a fourth place finish just behind only some large schools like North Hills, Seneca Valley, and Grove City Area.
As for the girls team, Rylie Teapole ran a 20:30 for 12th place, and Purtell and Grace Churovia rounded out the Bobcat top three placing 18th and 30th and times of 20:45 and 21:16, respectively. The girls also accomplished a fourth-place finish.
The team would then move onto the MAC competition October 9, hoping to further their prowess, in which Biss ran a 16:26 taking second place, with Burtt and Groff following in 10th and 16th and times of 17:28 and 17:45, respectively.
Purtell claimed 10th, Rylie Teapole claimed 11th, and Peyton Teapole claimed 14th at the MAC competition for the girls with times of 21:32, 21:41, and 21:51, respectively.
October 16, the teams both took to their own Beaver Area XC Invite at Brush Creek and performed phenomenally. Biss took first in the boys’ section running a 16:24 with Burtt, Groff, and Nick Miller snatching places 6-8 with times of 17:19, 17:40, and 18:06, respectively.
The girls also placed with many runners in a row including Rylie Teapole, Purtell, Peyton Teapole, and Churovia taking places 3-6. Their times were 20:59, 21:07, 21:36, and 21:48, respectively. Both teams took first place.
The teams will move on to the WPIAL finals at White Oak Park in McKeesport October 24, and it’s safe to say we can expect great things from both teams in the postseason.
