Thanksgiving dinner is beloved all across the US—and especially here at Beaver High School. Let’s hear from some of our Bobcats about their favorite Turkey Day dishes and traditions . . .
“Mashed potatoes and gravy are my favorite because they go with everything.”
-Sophomore Quinn O’Leary
“My thanksgiving dinner table is a little bit more unusual than most. My grandma makes baked pineapple, which is crushed pineapple baked and topped with cinnamon, and my brother and I are always fighting over who gets the leftovers of it because it’s even better cold!” -Senior Abigail Noah
“Stove Top [stuffing] is my favorite because it’s delicious!” -Señora Landy
“I like cranberry sauce because it’s sour.” -Junior Julia Patrisian
“I really like turkey and gravy because it tastes really good. That is incredible evidence because I’m a picky eater!” -Senior Alexis Thomas
“I like pumpkin pie because it makes me think of fall, and I love fall.” -Junior Sophia Hahn
“I really like sweet potato casserole because it reminds me of my grandma’s thanksgiving dinner.” -Senior Riley Paul
“I like ham the best because I am not a fan of everything else.” -Junior Ian McCarty Cogis
“My family doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving the western way. Typically, you are to see Turkey or dishes like that; however, I grew up on seafood. We will have different types of seafood, from oysters to abalone to king crab to lobsters, etc. So basically any seafood you can think of will be in my stomach.” -Senior Gary Liu
“I love sweet potatoes because of the marshmallows in them!” -Sophomore Natalie Portman
“My husband and I celebrate Thanksgiving in Toronto, so I love poutine, which is french fries and cheese curds with gravy on top.” -Señora Zahn
“Broccoli casserole is my favorite and always has been my favorite even when I was little, and my mom makes it amazing.” -Freshman Kailyn Connelly
“I love pastitso which is kind of a Greek lasagna that’s sweet but savory at the same time. I love it because it’s unlike any other food around here, and I only have it once a year. It tastes so amazing especially paired with all the other things I have on my plate. I always grab a huge piece and eat the whole thing so fast.” -Senior Chloe Meyer
“My favorite Thanksgiving food would have to be knödels. My grandma makes them. They are like big dough balls, and you eat them with apple sauce and sour cream!” -Sophomore Jillian Dinsmore
“I like pumpkin pie because I’ve always been a dessert person. And fall is my favorite season, so having pumpkin dessert makes me happy.” -Senior Brielle Osborne
“My favorite Thanksgiving food is pumpkin cake because it’s a dessert I only get once a year, so I always look forward to it!” -Sophomore Ali Carson
“My favorite food is stuffing. It’s a 10/10!” -Sophomore Elizabeth Paskey
“I love my green bean casserole on Thanksgiving!” -Sophomore Alyssa Caldwell
“I hate to be lame, but I think it has to be pumpkin pie. And I’m always the person who doesn’t eat the crust and just eats the pie part!” -Ms. Firmani
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
