As summer fades into this year’s latest memory, a new season takes its place, and I’m not talking about autumn. September stands as an unofficial fashion month, hosting events such as the Met Gala, various awards shows, and fashion weeks around the world.
New York’s annual Fashion Week occurred last month: September 8–12. The event showcased collections from 91 designers. Most brands use the event as their opportunity to highlight their Spring 2022 lookbooks.
Some of the most popular designer labels in this year’s lineup were Carolina Herrera, Coach, Micheal Kors, Sergio Hudson, and Tom Ford.
Carolina Herrera- Venezualian designer Carolina Herrera, known for styling important public figures, such as First Lady Michelle Obama, stunned with her NYFW show. The brand’s creative director, Wes Gordon, incorporated bold bows and puff accents into the designs creating a signature flare for the Spring 2022 collection.
Coach- Does anyone else feel a bit “Clueless”? Stuart Vever, chief creative officer at Coach, channeled priceless plaid patterns reminiscent of the early-2000s film in the brand’s NYFW lookbook. The spring 2022 collection features oversized, boxy-style outerwear styled with baggy clothes allowing for a loose and free-flowing silhouette.
Micheal Kors- The spring 2022 lookbook for designer Micheal Kors’s brand focuses on neutral colors and cinched silhouettes that accentuate the waistline. Thick belts are also a recurring theme with the collection, further defining the figure.
Sergio Hudson- Bold meets timeless in the latest collection from designer fashion label Sergio Hudson. The NYFW looks included powerful pantsuits in loud cherry reds and banana yellows ready to catch eyes everywhere.
Tom Ford- Similar to the aforementioned brand, Tom Ford’s upcoming spring style isn’t one to wear when trying to blend in. Bright, electric colors create the signature looks for the designer’s collection, which was showcased during NYFW. Ford makes a statement with the latest lookbook where athleisure meets glam with glitzy materials and racerback tank tops, a combination not easily forgotten.
