Wait, college costs how much?!?
It’s officially graduation year for the Class of 2025, and the start of a new year marks our impending doom towards debt.
Just kidding . . . but seriously, college is expensive.
Despite the high price tags on our dream schools there are so many resources to help you pay for college—including our very own Beaver Area Education Foundation scholarships.
With $47,000 worth of scholarships being awarded this year this is a chance for free money that seniors do not want to miss.
All applications are due Friday, January 31 with absolutely NO exceptions.
The senioritis may be hitting everyone hard right now, but this is one thing you do not want to procrastinate on.
The BAEA scholarships application can be found in our counseling Schoology course or on the BASD website. It is a Google form where you need to detail all of your activities, accomplishments, and information.
Make sure to include ALL of your activities because some of the scholarships are for very niche interests and career aspirations.
Also know that the application will not be finished until a 250 word essay is uploaded that details “any challenges you have dealt with and overcome, and how this will help you succeed beyond high school,” or “Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?”
Once the first page is finished you are directed to choose what scholarships you want to apply for.
The scholarships all have different criterias ranging from being an athlete, to living in Midland, to majoring in environmental science. (So believe me there are multiple that you qualify for!)
A few of the scholarships have specific requirements, so watch out for the asterisk ( * ) symbol when you are applying which indicates that extra essays or information is needed.
The scholarship prizes for winners range from a few hundred dollars to $3000 depending on the scholarship.
All scholarships will be awarded at the Academic Awards Night May 21. Scholarship recipients and their parents will receive an invitation in the mail.
Write those essays! Time is (free) money when it comes to scholarships!
