Think your opinion doesn’t matter? Think again.
During the last week of October and the first week of November, students were asked to complete a survey questioning how to better the school. The survey asked in what classes kids do best, what methods they like best in class, etc.
The survey also asked if students had trusted adults they could turn to in the school and other questions about healthy relationships.
Through the survey, administrators are hoping to better the school environment using advice from students. This effort gives students the feeling that they’re being listened to and understood.
“This feels like it has been a long time coming . . . I feel like students felt like there would be change for our sake and not just the teachers for once. Whether or not there are improvements is what I’m waiting to see,” senior Halie Crider said after completing the survey.
Principal Dr. Murray created and shared the survey, most likely hoping to hear everyone out. Any changes being implemented due to the survey have yet to be announced, but it’s still early. Teachers and staff met to discuss the survey results November 4.
On the other side of the desk, teachers also recently completed a survey shared by Dr. Murray asking teachers to rate, evaluate, and comment on their professional environment, the level of support they receive from district administrators, their opportunities to collaborate with their colleagues, etc.
“I hope everyone feels as though Beaver is trying to understand and communicate with us [students]. I can clearly see everyone is trying to help us in any way they can,” senior Josh Noah said.
