Beaver Area Hockey skated away with another win January 6 against their rivals the Blackhawk Cougars 5-2 at the Brady’s Run Ice Arena!
The teams’ rivalry is more pronounced than some since both teams call Brady’s Run their home ice.
Goals were scored by senior Jeremy Jenkins (2), junior Connor Hartman (2), and junior Hayden Vongray (1).
“It has taken time for our young team to not only adjust to playing the game at a higher level than many have ever played before but to also learn the systems and discipline required to achieve success at the varsity level,” said Coach Brian Vongray.
No matter what the score of the game the team never gives up and works through every obstacle.
“The win felt great considering that we lost to Blackhawk once this year and once last year. The team all played really well and now we’re focusing on making playoffs,” stated senior goaltender Brandon Scheffler.
But the team isn’t all wins just yet. They played Montour January 17 and sadly couldn’t pull out another win; the final score was 17-1 with the Bobcats’ loan goal scored by Josh Sitler.
“Right now we still have a chance of making playoffs so that is something we are focusing on working towards,” said defenseman Vongray.
With another loss to Meadville January 21; the final score was 12-1. Sitter again netted the team’s only goal.
Even with this tough loss the team has their heads up as they skate towards post-season play on ever-thinning ice. They just need that ice to hold a little longer . . .
The Bobcats’ next home game will be at Brady’s Run Ice Arena January 31 at 6:45 p.m. against North Hills—be sure to come out and support the team on their senior night!
